Over the weekend I took a trip down to Cape Cod with my family for an overnight trip. After working on Saturday morning, coming home & packing we were off for a weekend of much anticipated fun. A couple of years ago my Aunt and Uncle built a beautiful home in the Falmouth Heights area of Cape Cod. The house is walking distance to the beach and best of all my Uncle had a custom build pizza oven imported from Italy installed in the house. So that was the plan...a walk to the beach with wine and snacks followed by a huge pizza party.
The day did not disappoint. We arrived at the Cape about 4:00 and headed straight to the beach. Despite the frigid breeze and whipping sand we had a blast. There was 13 of us all huddled on two blankets enjoying the kids and the wine! I was actually lucky enough to have a picture snapped of Marc and I!
As always Ella loved playing on the beach, chasing waves, throwing rocks and getting her feet wet.
And miss Riley hated every minute of being on the sand. But she was happy to sit on Grandma's lap and play many games of peek-a-boo huddled under the blanket.
After about an hour on the beach it was time to head back for PIZZA! There is a whole process for firing up the oven that my uncle has down to a science and it's so fun to watch.
We gather around the center island and that is when the magic happens. There is laughter, conversation and just pure happiness. The energy in the room is amazing and you can see the memories being made in front of your eyes.
My cousins daughter Sophia took the prize of the night. She made pizzas like a pro and entertained us with her italian accent while flipping the dough. All in all we made about 15 pizza's...way more than needed but it was too fun to stop. I have to say that if this is any indication of the summer to come it is going to be an amazing one!
